Itinerary

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA), where you’ll be warmly welcomed by our team. Transfer to your luxurious lodge in Arusha. Take the day to rest, acclimate to the Tanzanian atmosphere, and get ready for your upcoming adventure. Enjoy an evening briefing about the safari ahead, followed by a relaxing dinner.

After an early breakfast, depart from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On the way, stop by the Maasai market to interact with the local community and purchase crafts. Upon arrival, check in to your lodge perched on the rim of the Ngorongoro Crater, where you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the caldera. In the afternoon, unwind and prepare for the exciting days ahead.

Descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for a full-day game drive. This UNESCO World Heritage Site boasts diverse ecosystems and abundant wildlife. Look out for the Big Five—lions, elephants, rhinos, buffalo, and leopards—as well as flamingos and other bird species. The crater’s rich biodiversity sets the stage for the migration experience. Return to the lodge for a relaxing dinner and overnight stay.

After breakfast, embark on a scenic journey to the central Serengeti. Along the way, stop at Olduvai Gorge, one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world. Arriving in Serengeti, enjoy an afternoon game drive through the park’s iconic plains, home to predators and a wide variety of other wildlife. Stay at a strategically located camp or lodge within the park, prepared for the migration spectacle the next day.

Today, immerse yourself in the heart of the Great Migration. Explore the vast plains of Central Serengeti, where millions of wildebeest and zebras traverse the land. Visit the Moru Kopjes and the Seronera River Valley—prime locations for observing the migration. Experience the thrilling sight of river crossings, where herds face crocodiles and other dangers. After a day filled with incredible encounters, return to your lodge or camp for dinner and relaxation.

After breakfast, head to the northern Serengeti for one of the most dramatic sights in the migration—the Mara River crossings. Here, you’ll witness wildebeest and zebras braving the powerful river currents and predators lying in wait. This spectacle highlights the raw intensity and determination of the migration. After witnessing the crossings, you’ll return to your camp, where you can relax and reflect on this awe-inspiring experience.

Spend the day exploring the Serengeti further with a full-day safari in the park. Witness more of the migration, enjoy game drives, and explore new areas of the park. Look out for big cats and other fascinating wildlife. Return to your lodge for dinner and a restful night.

On your final day, enjoy a morning game drive in the northern Serengeti, where you may catch a glimpse of the last stages of the migration. After lunch, drive back to Arusha, where you’ll have some time for last-minute shopping or relaxation. In the evening, you’ll be transferred to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure flight, concluding your 8 Days Serengeti Migration Safari.
