Held in Moshi town at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro, this event combines sport, travel, and culture. It’s perfect for visitors who want more than just a safari.

Please check the website/social media and your email for any updates on below, and when you collect your race number.

Race Start Times:
  • Full Marathon – 42.2km – 06h30 The race will start and finish at the MoCU Stadium Grounds in Moshi
  • Half Marathon 21.1km – 07h00 – The half marathon run will start on the Sokoine Road Gate of MoCu and finish at the MoCU Stadium in Moshi
  • 5km Fun Run – 07h30 – The race will start at the bottom of MoCU Stadium, on Uru Road and finish in the stadium.

Entry Conditions and Rules

Marathon (42.2km)

  • The competition is open to persons 20 years and over.
  • The first 950 finishers will be awarded medals & shirts.

Half Marathon (21.1 km)

  • The competition is open to persons of 18 years and over.
  • The first 6750 finishers will be awarded medals & shirts

Fun Run (5km)

  • The competition is open to persons of 10 years and over.  Anyone under 10 years must be accompanied by an adult.

Both professional runners and visitors can join. Even if you do not run, watching the race is exciting and full of energy.

How to Get There

Most visitors fly into Kilimanjaro International Airport, which is about 45 minutes from Moshi. From there, transfers to hotels and the marathon starting area are easy to arrange.

Arriving two days before the race is recommended so you can rest after your flight and explore the town.
